January Beauty Favorites

One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to revive my blog and post on it more. For 2018, I will post a few favorites post every month! This is part one of two favorites posts. I realize that early February is a bit late to post January favorites, but here they are, and I promise I will be more consistent as the months go on.

I traveled a lot during January. I went to Utah for a debate tournament and to the big island of Hawaii for a class trip. Those two climates are wildly different, and I brought this palette to both trips. There is so much variety in the amount of products. I didn’t need to bring another blush, bronzer, or highlight with me because Bahama Mama, Mary Lou Manizer, and four different blush shades were included. As you can see in the picture, there’s a wide variety in the shades included. Although the palette was compact, I could create so many different looks, from a berry smokey eye to a professional neutral one. One gripe I had with the palette is that there could have been more eyeshadows included, but that’s okay because it already saved up so much space in my travel makeup bag.

  • MAC Fix+

I got this as a Christmas gift, and I know that Fix+ has been a standby for many makeup lovers. I have tried a couple different setting sprays before, such as Urban Decay All Nighter and NYX Dewy Setting spray. Fix+ really “melted” my makeup together and made it cohesive. The spray removed any powderiness from my makeup look, and my makeup lasted and looked fresh all day.

I had one shade of this before in Verbena, a warm and springy pink. I sampled a few more shades in their holiday kit. The shade Rhubarb, a muted berry, was such a hit for me that I immediately bought a full size. This lipstick is the most comfortable formula I have ever tried, and it does last a long time. I do have to reapply throughout the day, but I don’t mind. The lipstick also smells like a lemon pie, which is a plus for me (but it may not be a plus for you if you don’t like scented products).

  • OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner

My hair is normally pretty dry and I have natural waves. I feel like this shampoo and conditioner mix works well for my hair type. I feel like my hair is hydrated and the natural waves are enhanced when I use it. I actually have tried the Coconut Curls shampoo and conditioner formula from this brand, but oddly, I think that the Coconut Milk formula works better for my hair, personally.
